Utd To Go Marching On On On
(07/01 19:45) Derby v Man Utd : Man Utd -1.25 Win @ 1.95 Carling Cup |
After last nights turn around by Tottenham, it is difficult to see past Man Utd getting the job done at Derby in the first leg and setting themselves up nicely for their home fixture at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils may have one eye set on their encounter with Chelsea this weekend, but they will still have a pretty strong squad out for this match this evening with much of the same side that knocked Southampton out of the FA Cup at the weekend expected to feature this evening.
Theres a lot of talent in the youth at Old Trafford, in fact there always has been, and with 4 clean sheets in a row, it is difficult to see past Utd winning this one by a couple of goals at least this evening. |

Dolphins Look Good To Progress
(04/01 18:00) BAL Ravens @ MIA Dolphins : MIA Dolphins 0.0 Win @ 2.63 NFL |
Despite the odds being in favour of the Ravens here, mainly due to their success in Miami earlier in the season, I would have to say that it should be a lot tighter than the odds suggest.
Baltimore ended the season 9-2, whilst Miami after their loss to Baltimore, went on to record a 9-1 record in their last 10 games of the regular season.
Home field advantage should be made to count here for the AFC third seeds, and if they can produce the same form against the Ravens that they have shown overcoming their last 5 opponents then they could get the win here. Despite the weaknesses of most of their last 10 opponents, the Dolphins must be flying high on confidence given their run-in record here. |

Eagles To Fly Into The Premiership
(21/05 14:00) Coca Cola League Championship 2008/09 : Crystal Palace Win @ 7.50 Championship |
At the time of writing this (New Years Eve) Palace are sitting nicely poised just outside the playoff zone, and have the second best form record over the last 8 games in the division, they havent lost in 6 matches at Selhurst Park, and with 3 games from their next 5 being at home, I think they could begin to mount a serious challenge to secure themselves a play-off position. Although they are 11pts off the top 3 it is definately not beyond the realms of impossibility for them to close that gap in the remaining 20 matches, but I think that they should concentrate more on getting into the playoffs first before setting their sights too high. |

Kicking Kings
(14/12 03:08) NY Knicks @ SAC Kings : SAC Kings -2.5 Win @ 1.90 Basketball |
After an impressive performance last night I am fully expecting the Kings to continue their momentum over to tonights fixture against the Knicks and pick up a much needed victory.
Despite losing to the Lakers yesterday without leading at any time, the Kings were impressive in managing to prevent the Lakers from running away with the game and keeping themselves within touching distance of a shock victory. However, given their 3 day rest before that encounter, it was no surprise that the team were full of energy, and with two straight wins over the Knicks, the Kings can take a step forward here by easing past the Knicks for a third time in a row |

Taylor Ready To Strike?
(09/12 19:45) Tranmere v Peterborough : Andrew Taylor Win @ 41.00 FA Cup |
After a couple of weeks of having a pretty quiet spell in terms of chances, today could see Andy Taylor score the goal which could make all the difference for Tranmere against Peterborough.
In an interview on BBC Radio Merseyside the Rovers defender stated that one goal is all that could settle this affair, and that Peterborough also look pretty weak at the back despite their attacking prowess. With that in mind, perhaps he has noticed something the rest of the players havent and this may help him to score the goal that seals this match |

Top Pool
(01/12 20:00) Liverpool v West Ham : Liverpool -1.25 Win @ 1.85 Premiership |
After the heroics that Arsenal managed yesterday in beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, tonight is now the perfect chance for Liverpool to take the top spot of the Premiership, and I fully expect them to do it by a comfortable margin against a West Ham United side who have not won a league match at Anfield since 1963 as far as I am aware.
Against Arsenal and Man Utd this season, West Ham have already lost both games 2-0, and the same scoreline wouldnt prove to be too much of a shock today as I can definately see Liverpool taking all three points from this, they are yet to take a wobble in form in the league and they can take a fully deserved lead at the top of the table with victory tonight |

Standard Set Too High
(27/11 19:45) Partizan Belgrade v Standard Liege : Standard Liege 0.25 Win @ 1.75 UEFA Cup |
A lot of people seemed to believe that the loss of Fellini would cause Standard to lose their balance of play, but getting past his new club Everton, and beating Sevilla in their last match as well as currently lying second in the Belgian League (Which has something to do with Jupiter Im lead to believe) have shown that Standard are not a one-man team. In fact, I am still of the belief that Standard deserve to be in the Champions League this season after their exceptional display of attacking football against Liverpool, and with the same type of display this evening, they should be able to get at least a point of Partizan, who have lost their opening two group games, as well as being in a league which doesnt feature on the BBC website, means that they should really struggle to cope with Standard here.
Ok, maybe that was a bit harsh on a side who are actually sitting top of the Serbian league, but they have not really been too convincing in Europe so far this season, whilst from what I have seen of Standard, they have really looked strong, and should once again show that they are a class above most of the teams left in this competition. |

Big Absentees To Cost Pompey Tonight
(27/11 20:05) Portsmouth v AC Milan : AC Milan -0.25 Win @ 1.95 UEFA Cup |
Since Harry left Pompey have been out of sorts, only 1 win from their last 8 matches in all competitions just shows how they are struggling, and with Defoe expected to miss out tonight, it is hard to see where Pompey will find their goals from (well except for 2 meter Peter). AC Milan on the other hand are decently poised in 2nd place in Serie A, just 3 points behind Mourinhos Marvels down the road at Inter, or should I say down stairs?
AC Milan have won both games so far in their group, whilst Pompey folded away to Braga, losing 3-0, and despite being at home to AC here, it is difficult to see them getting off the mark in terms of points this evening, and therefore, in my opinion, they look too short in terms of price, and are worth the Lay here, especially with Campbell and Utaka also expected to join Defoe and Diarra on the sidelines here, and as is the case with Galatasaray, a win would see AC through to the last 16. |

Glad To Be On Galatasaray
(27/11 18:00) Galatasaray v FC Metalist Kharkiv : Galatasaray -1 Win @ 2.00 UEFA Cup |
The home side have shown their superior class in recent weeks at home, despite their away form lacking somewhat in their domestic league, they have won 5 from 6 in the league, scoring 17 in the process, whilst in converting that form to Europe, a 2-0 win away to Benfica, and a 1-0 win at home to Greek rivals Olympiakos, shows how determined they are to do well in this competition this year, and despite Metalist performing well against Hertha last time out, this is only their first time in this competition, and away from home, they dont look to be anything special, they really could struggle to get anything out of this match, and its only really a question of whether or not Galatasaray can find the net here, as well as the Turkish side possibly being aware that a win this evening should be good enough to see them through to the last 16 of the competition. |

Misty To Glide Through
(27/11 19:50) 7:50 Great Leighs : Misty Glade EW @ 5.50 Horse Racing |
having shown a lot of ability in class 5 company Misty Glade is still waiting for a first win in this higher class, but with the conditions and distance to suit, as well as a couple of weeks more experience at this short distance of 6f, it could now be the time that we see a big performance for Misty and a permanent raise up in class. |
