2.20 Sandown - CRIMSON FERN
Not the most straightforward of fillies in the preliminaries, but isn't bad when racing as she showed here over course and distance a couple of starts ago when bravely making all in a 5f handicap on much slower ground to what she'll encounter today. However, has won on quick surfaces before and won a Goodwood handicap as she pleased earlier in the season on ground similar to what she has here and also, though now racing off a career high mark, she's earned it and it is hard to think she has reached the ceiling of her improvement and from a good draw, she should go very close if temperament remains in check. Sundae will win a big race one of these days, but I am not sure 5f on quick ground is what is required and a bigger danger could be Strike Up The Band who looked back to something like himself last time, though the draw could have been kinder here.
3.25 Sandown - ZACINTO (NAP)
Talked about this one on the two-year olds to follow thread, but as ever it seems word has spread like wildfire, as is often the case, and he is likely to go off at ludicrously short odds. He is a very well bred son of Dansili and is the first foal of a mare who was a debutant winner at two over 7f and a half sister to two more further debutant winners in General Knowledge and Western Verse and was out of Oaks winner Reams Of Verse. This colt is trained by Sir Michael Stoute and he is said to be near the top of the list of his juveniles this season and it's notable the yards only two recent runners in this, No Excuse Needed (2000) and Bragadino (2001) were both debutant winners before making an impact at a higher level. Although the yard are 0-4 with their juvenile runners, it would be a big let should this colt fail to make an impact. Seminole is not straightforward and the blinkers are already on him and the biggest dangers to the selection could well be Mons Calpe, who is better than he showed on his debut, and fellow newcomer Granski from the all conquering Richard Hannon yard.
4.00 Sandown - BUSHMAN (NB)
This race traditionally falls the way of a lightly raced, unexposed improver and once again it seems likely to fall to a horse with similar credentials in the shape of the selection trained by David Simcock. He is a Godolphin cast off who cost connections what now looks a paltry 15,000gns considering the ease with which he has won his last two races, the first of which was a potentially useful maiden at Windsor, winning by 4½ lengths. Last time out, he made his handicap debut against some pretty decent types here over a mile, but cast the aside to score readily by a considerably eased down 4½ lengths. While his bare form equates to little against his opponents here today, he has any amount of improvement left in him and now with a little bit of juice in the ground which he didn't get at Royal Ascot (where he was withdrawn due to rattling fast ground) and he could well continue his rapid progress. Stage Gift is the class act of the field, but may need this, Many Volumes usually finds one too good, Spanish Moon has pulled too hard for his own good and has yet to prove he's not best when fresh, and the rest look a pretty mediocre bunch.
4.35 Sandown - GULF EXPRESS
This is very much the last chance saloon for this colt after three moderate performances this season after I held such high hopes for him. He looked a typical Stoute improver last season and really came to himself in the second half of the season when winning a couple of decent looking 10f handicaps at Newbury and Pontefract and was well backed for his reappearance run at Newmarket. However, was never out of last position and again looked less than likely to win at York the next time, though can be forgiven his last start when reveiving a hefty bump at the start in the Duke Of Edinburgh Handicap at the Royal meeting. The visor is now reached for and if taking to it and returning to his old form, could well dot up, but could adversely put in another poor performance which would mean he'd have to be black listed. If he doesn't perform again, then the one to take advantage could well be Humungous who seems to be running off a fair mark and is well worth a try at this trip off the back of a staying on eighth in the Hunt Cup last time. 2:20 Sandown
EW Tabaret @ 13
slipped in the handicap and popped up at Redcar last time in first time cheekpieces. No guarantee that they will work again, but is still handicapped to win again if they do and has a good draw as well.
2:30 Southwell
EW Mac Dalia SP
returns to a track where he has 3 wins and a place to his name. Ran no race on turf last time and back on this surface needs to be seriously considered.
2:40 Warwick
Lucky Redback (NAP) @ 1.3
form looks head and shoulder above this and should win in a canter.
3:25 Sandown
Seminole @ 3.5
Stoute's runners have disappointed me recently and he doesnt have the greatest of first time out winners. Seminole showed ability on his debut and will improve. The blinkers are applied presumably because he hung left in the closing stages at Newmarket, but that would not put me off backing him today
6:35 Salisbury
Flying Lady @ 3.25
a low draw is not completely insurmountable at Salisbury and Flying Ladys Royal Ascot form gives her a distinct advantage against the rest. If she can get a bit of cover from stall 1, it might not be that much of a hindrance
7:55 Haydock
EW Kingswinford @ 6
ran 15th in Listed Race at Royal Ascot and now appears in a Haydock seller? Previous placed form in much higher grade than this is very solid. 5/1 is a big price _________________ DONT LET YOUR FAVOURITES FLIP-FLOP!

Havent posted for awhile, iv been away making notes
4.45 SOUTHWELL- L'ART DU SILIENCE NAP 12/1
Last run was very eye catching at great leighs over 5f in a class 5. It had a poor start when jumping out of a poor draw in the stalls. it looked like he would tail off half way round ,but instead it powered home and was beaten by 3lengths in the end. this 1mile is more likely to suit. the drop in class is likely to suit & and the yards jockey pat cosgrave replaces the effort of eddie ahern. interesting what the market makes of him come 4.10. _________________ There is just as much horse sense as ever, but the horses have most of it.

SANDOWN 2.20... OSIRIS WAY (NAP) @ 11/1
Had plenty pace to comfortably win 1st time up this season at Salisbury and this is his time of year.
The opposition doesn't look as strong here with many preferring further, or running better on the all weather surfaces.
Strike Up The Band is well capable at this level and has a good pull in the weights with Ebraam, and also Tabaret.
Sohraab could also threaten, but may have most competition from Playful who was closest to the selection last time out!
Osiris Way ... to win.......Playful ... F/C
SANDOWN 3.25... MILLHARBOUR (E/W) @ 28/1
Well thought of by connections considering future engagements and stable has around a 30% strike rate here in the last 5 years.
Too big @ 28/1
SANDOWN 4.00 BUSHMAN @ 15/4
Won his last 2 with considerable ease and is open to plenty improvement on those efforts. Should have most to fear from Stage Gift and Charlie Farnsbarns.
Spanish Moon won well 1st time up at Ascot but the 1.4 mile trip would probably suit better than this 10 furlongs.
WARWICK 3.45... OVERWING @ 100/3
Cosmic Destiny ran Wednesday's NAP (Diane's Choice) close at Brighton and is sure to go close again, but a line through Matterofact should give the edge to Overwing, who on her penultimate run had subsequent winner Gap Princess behind her, and found Dorn Dancer too strong latest in a better race than this.
WARWICK 2.10... RAMPANT RONNIE @ 4/1
His latest run here at 1 mile was a promising effort when beaten around 1 length into 6th place when running on best at the finish.
Previously he ran in a 1.6 mile Nottingham H/cap when leading most the way in that event until collared in the last 2fl.
This trip looks to be more in keeping with his pedigree and represents a drop in class to gain that elusive 1st win, as he had finished a respectable 5th in a Kempton maiden last year behind Brittania 3rd Yadree to suggest he is not devoid of ability.
SOUTHWELL 3.35... ALRIGHT CHUCK @ 33/1
Owned and trained by Peter Hiatt and the stable bang in form, and this one is bred for this trip so could be well overpriced @ 33/1

My Lay of the day today is Quotation 9.10 Salisbury.
Not sure if the firm ground will suit this one and i will gladly take it on with Tina's best, maybe i will and Mekong Melody.
Tina's best will have no problem with the trip, amateur rider takes 5lb pounds off and has won before at the distance.
Mekong Melody has won in this grade before, at this distance and should take some beating.
Maybe i will is on the rise in the weights but is in form and maybe can aslo give the odds on favourite a run for her money.
Back of the day is 3.35 Southwell Altitude
