Gareth Ainsworth is the early favourite to be the next Stevenage manager with the club looking for a new appointment
Betting is now available on who will be the next Stevenage manager following Steve Evans departure earlier this week and bookies already have a clear favourite in the betting market to take over.
Gareth Ainsworth leads the way in the odds list at 2/1 to take over at Stevenage next with the former QPR and Wycombe Wanderers manager out of management since being sacked by QPR back in October 2023.
Ainsworth could jump back into management with Stevenage, who sit in 9th place in the League One table and still could mathematically make the play-offs albeit with a massive miracle swing needed.
BetVictor's latest betting market suggests a 33% chance that Ainsworth is the next manager of Stevenage with the market putting Scott Lindsey and Michael Duff as second and third favourites respectively.
Next Stevenage Manager | Odds | Probability |
---|---|---|
Gareth Ainsworth | 2/1 | 33.3% |
Scott Lindsey | 5/1 | 16.7% |
Michael Duff | 6/1 | 14.3% |
Luke Garrard | 8/1 | 11.1% |
Mark Bonner | 10/1 | 9.1% |
What the expert says...
Steve Evans shock departure from Stevenage earlier this week means that the club are now on the look out for a new boss and it's Gareth Ainsworth who is the early favourite to take over. Bookies put him at 2/1 in the betting market to make Stevenage his first club back into management since being sacked by QPR back at the end of 2023.
Steve Evans left Stevenage earlier this week to re-join Rotherham
Steve Evans departed from Stevenage earlier this week after a two-and-a-half year spell at the club which saw him work wonders by keeping them safe in League Two before getting promoted up to League One.
This season saw the club start as one of the favourites to go down but they impressively have been in the race for the play-offs and been against the odds when it comes to their current league position of 9th.
After an official approach and compensation being met though Evans has departed from Stevenage to join Rotherham once again after a previous three year spell at the club which saw him take them from League Two to the Championship.
